TMR Associates was founded in 1996 as a water jet equipment manufacturing
company. Since that time, we have changed our focus to provide not
only state of the art decontamination equipment, but also to provide
a full range of contractor services. We believe our unique approach
to designing and building specialty equipment for our own use allows
us to respond quickly to client needs and to meet the demands of
a changing nuclear industry.
We successfully completed a project at the Rocky Flats Environmental
Technology Site (RFETS) in the Fall of 1999. Building 779 at this
facility was the first Plutonium contaminated building in the United
States to be decontaminated and torn down. We constructed specialized
equipment, (i.e., Three-Directional Beam Stripper, Edger, Surface
Stripper, etc.) and supplied the site personnel to decontaminate
over 50,000 square feet of walls, floors and ceilings with a maximum
radiation of 1.5 million dpm. This decontamination project was completed
6 months ahead of schedule.
Our VAC TRAX® equipment,
combined with our Waste Stream
Separator®, kept workers at a safe distance, reduced the need
for respirators, and reduced the expected radioactive waste by 72%,
(i.e., 84 barrels actual versus 300 anticipated.)
Our equipment has also been used at other nuclear facilities. We
provided a nuclear power plant with specialized equipment called
Rotary Tunnel Strippers. This equipment was able to clean the complete
circumference of 12 foot pipes in one rotation. By using our equipment,
the staffing requirements were reduced substantially and the production
rates were increased dramatically.
We have also been successful with asbestos abatement. TMR's VAC
TRAX® System removed asbestos for American Abatement. 54,000 square
feet of asbestos impregnated mastic floor coating was removed in
14 days with no significant amounts released into the air.
