Abrasive Waterjet Cutting Systems
Waterjet systems can be reconfigured to drive aggressive cutting
tools. These cutting tools use abrasive materials, such as sand
or pulverized garnet stone entrained in high-pressure water streams.
The abrasive waterjet stream can be pressure adjusted and manipulated
to cut a wide variety of materials such as metal, glass, plastic,
rubber, composites, and concrete. Since the process is wet, airborne
contamination is greatly reduced, and further controlled with the
introduction of vacuum recovery systems, that pick up the debris
before it dries. Material distortions caused by the heat generated
by conventional cutting processes are virtually eliminated. Additionally,
whenever there is danger of fire or explosion when cutting materials,
the Abrasive Waterjet Cutting System will perform the task.
The Abrasive Waterjet Cutting System can be constructed specifically
to accomplish the task at hand. These tasks include cutting most
flat or curved surfaces, flat plate, decking, storage tanks, ducting,
drums, and pipes.
